A Ubiquiti UniFi network is what you get when you stop renting a mystery box from your internet provider and start owning a network that is actually built for your building. I am Geek designs and installs UniFi networks for homes and businesses across the Nashville area, from a single access point upgrade to a full rack build with structured cabling, managed switches and security cameras.
This is the work Brian enjoys most, and it shows in the details: clean cable runs, labeled patch panels, sensible VLANs, and a network you can see and manage from your phone.

Why businesses and homeowners switch to UniFi
Consumer routers and mesh kits are built to be easy to sell, not easy to live with. They work fine in a small apartment. In a 4,000-square-foot home, a busy office, or a building with brick walls, they start to show their limits: dead zones, random drops, and a single device trying to do the job of five.
- One dashboard for everything. Gateway, switches, access points and cameras all live in one UniFi console instead of five separate apps.
- Wired access points, not wireless hops. Each access point gets its own cable back to the switch, so speed doesn’t get cut in half at every hop the way it does with most mesh systems.
- Real security controls. Separate networks (VLANs) for guests, smart-home gadgets and cameras, plus firewall rules and threat blocking that consumer gear simply doesn’t offer.
- No monthly license fees. You buy the hardware once. UniFi Protect cameras record locally with no cloud subscription.
What a UniFi installation includes
- Site survey and Wi-Fi coverage planning for access point placement
- Structured cable runs (Cat6/Cat6A), termination and testing
- Wall-mount or floor rack, patch panel and cable management
- UniFi Cloud Gateway, managed switches and access point configuration
- VLAN segmentation for guest Wi-Fi, IoT devices and security cameras
- Firewall and threat-management settings tuned for your site
- UniFi Protect camera systems, if you want them
- Documentation: what is plugged in where, with labeled ports
- Remote monitoring and proactive alerts for downtime and updates

How it works
Consult. We start by listening: what’s not working, what you want to work, and what’s already on the walls and in the closet.
Plan. You get a written plan: the equipment, where it goes, the cable runs, and what it costs. Nothing starts until you approve it.
Execute. We do the work, label it, document it, and walk you through it in plain English. Then we stay reachable for when you have questions.
Who it’s for
Small and medium businesses that have outgrown a consumer router and need guest Wi-Fi, cameras and a reliable connection for point-of-sale and phones. High-end homes with multiple floors, outdoor living spaces, home offices and a growing pile of smart devices. And anyone who is tired of unplugging the router and counting to thirty.
Service area
I am Geek is based in the Nashville metro and works onsite in Nashville, Franklin, Brentwood, Murfreesboro, Hendersonville, Mt. Juliet and the surrounding communities. Onsite appointments run Tuesday through Thursday, with Mondays and Fridays open for onsite work and remote support.
Frequently asked questions
Is UniFi overkill for a home?
Not for a larger home. If you have more than one floor, brick or stone walls, a detached office, or a backyard you actually use, UniFi solves problems a mesh kit can’t. For a small apartment, a good consumer router is often enough, and we’ll tell you that.
Can you keep my current internet provider?
Yes. UniFi sits behind the modem or fiber ONT your provider installs. In most cases we put your provider’s router in bridge mode or replace it outright, so the UniFi gateway handles your network.
Do I have to run new cable?
Not always. Access points work best with a cable back to the switch, and we look for existing runs first. Where there is no cable, we’ll lay out the options in the plan, including runs through attics and crawl spaces.
Can I manage the network myself afterward?
Yes. You own the hardware and the UniFi console. We can manage and monitor it for you, hand it to you, or both.
How much does a UniFi installation cost?
It depends on square footage, how many access points and cable runs you need, and whether cameras are part of the project. After the consultation you get a written quote with the equipment and labor broken out, before any work starts.
