Structured Network Cabling in Nashville

Wi-Fi gets the attention, but cable does the heavy lifting. Every fast, reliable network is built on well-run ethernet: access points in the ceiling, cameras on the eaves, a wired connection to the office desk, and a tidy rack where it all comes together. I am Geek installs structured network cabling for homes and businesses across the Nashville area.

What we install

  • New Cat6 and Cat6A runs to offices, bedrooms, TVs, access points and cameras
  • Termination to keystone jacks, wall plates and patch panels
  • Wall-mount and floor racks with cable management and shelving
  • Runs through attics, crawl spaces, basements and existing walls
  • Outdoor-rated cable for exterior cameras and detached buildings
  • Testing of every run before we call it done
  • Labeling on both ends, so port 14 is never a mystery again
  • Cleanup of the “spaghetti closet” you inherited from the last installer

Cat6 or Cat6A?

For most homes and small offices, Cat6 handles gigabit speeds easily and supports multi-gigabit over shorter runs. Cat6A costs more and is thicker to work with, but it carries 10-gigabit speeds over the full 100 meters and is the better choice for new construction, Wi-Fi 7 access points and anything you want to future-proof. We’ll recommend the right cable for each run instead of one-size-fits-all.

Why the install quality matters

Cable is the part of the network you can’t easily replace once the drywall is closed. A kinked run, a sloppy termination or an unlabeled patch panel causes slow speeds and dropped connections that are hard to trace later. We treat cabling like it will outlive the equipment plugged into it, because it will.

How it works

Consult. We start by listening: what’s not working, what you want to work, and what’s already on the walls and in the closet.

Plan. You get a written plan: the equipment, where it goes, the cable runs, and what it costs. Nothing starts until you approve it.

Execute. We do the work, label it, document it, and walk you through it in plain English. Then we stay reachable for when you have questions.

Who it’s for

Homeowners building or remodeling, offices moving into a new space, businesses adding cameras or access points, and anyone whose network closet currently looks like a bowl of spaghetti.

Service area

I am Geek is based in the Nashville metro and works onsite in Nashville, Franklin, Brentwood, Murfreesboro, Hendersonville, Mt. Juliet and the surrounding communities. Onsite appointments run Tuesday through Thursday, with Mondays and Fridays open for onsite work and remote support.

Frequently asked questions

Can you run cable in a finished house?

Usually, yes. We fish cable through attics, crawl spaces, basements and interior walls to avoid opening drywall wherever we can. If a run isn’t practical, we’ll tell you during the walkthrough.

Should I pre-wire during new construction or a remodel?

Yes, it’s the cheapest moment you’ll ever get. Running cable before insulation and drywall costs far less than adding it later. Plan for access points in the ceiling, cameras outside, TVs and every desk.

Do you test the cable?

Every run is tested after termination. Anything that doesn’t pass gets fixed before we leave.

Can you clean up an existing network closet?

Yes. We re-terminate, label, add patch panels and cable management, and document what goes where, often without replacing the cable itself.
