Security Camera Installation in Nashville

A security camera is only useful if it records when it matters, alerts you to the right things, and doesn’t become a back door into your network. I am Geek installs UniFi Protect camera systems for homes and businesses across the Nashville area, wired, recorded locally, and set up so your cameras are protecting you rather than exposing you.

Why UniFi Protect

  • No monthly fees. Video records to a local console in your home or office, not a cloud subscription.
  • Smart detections. Person, vehicle and package alerts, so you are not notified every time a leaf blows past.
  • One app. Cameras, doorbells, chimes and the rest of your UniFi network live in the same place.
  • Your footage stays yours. Recordings stay on hardware you own and control.
  • Room to grow. Add cameras, doorbells, sensors and the UniFi alarm system over time.

What an installation includes

  • Walkthrough to plan camera placement, angles and coverage
  • Wired PoE cameras with outdoor-rated cabling
  • UniFi Protect console with local storage sized for your retention needs
  • Cameras placed on their own isolated network (VLAN)
  • Smart detection zones and alert settings tuned for your property
  • Remote viewing on your phone, set up securely
  • A walkthrough of the app so you know how to find footage fast

Cameras shouldn’t be your weakest link

Cheap cloud cameras are one of the most common ways attackers get into home and business networks. We put cameras on their own segment of the network so a compromised device can’t reach your computers, and we skip the default-password shortcuts that make so many systems easy targets.

How it works

Consult. We start by listening: what’s not working, what you want to work, and what’s already on the walls and in the closet.

Plan. You get a written plan: the equipment, where it goes, the cable runs, and what it costs. Nothing starts until you approve it.

Execute. We do the work, label it, document it, and walk you through it in plain English. Then we stay reachable for when you have questions.

Who it’s for

Homeowners who want to see the driveway, front gate and back door; businesses that need coverage of entrances, registers and parking; and anyone replacing a subscription camera system with something they own outright.

Service area

I am Geek is based in the Nashville metro and works onsite in Nashville, Franklin, Brentwood, Murfreesboro, Hendersonville, Mt. Juliet and the surrounding communities. Onsite appointments run Tuesday through Thursday, with Mondays and Fridays open for onsite work and remote support.

Frequently asked questions

Do UniFi cameras require a subscription?

No. UniFi Protect records locally to a console you own, with no monthly fee. Optional professional alarm monitoring is available if you want it.

Can I view the cameras from my phone?

Yes, through the UniFi Protect app, with live view, recordings and alerts from anywhere.

How long is footage kept?

That depends on the number of cameras, the resolution and the storage in the console. We size storage around how many days or weeks of footage you want to keep.

Can you replace my Ring, Nest or old DVR system?

Yes. We remove the old system and install UniFi Protect cameras, often reusing existing camera locations and, where possible, existing cable.

Do the cameras work if the internet goes down?

Yes. Recording happens locally, so cameras keep recording even when your internet is out. Remote viewing comes back when the connection does.
